Climate change, disaster risk, and the urban poor: cities building resilience for a changing world
Climate change, disaster risk, and the urban poor analyzes the key challenges facing the urban poor, given the risks associated with climate change and disaster. Through evidence and case studies from a number of cities- such as Dar es Salaam, Jakarta,Mexico City, and Sao Paulo-the book identifies key strategies that cities can pursue to build resilience for their vulnerable populations. These strategies are based on difficult policy decisions that must balance tradeoffs among risk reduction, urban development, and poverty reduction.
