The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia on the Process of Democratization
The history of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia began with the formation of the Central Indonesian National Committee, also known as KNIP, on 29 August, 1945. Prior to the formation of the People's Consulative Assembly, the House of Representatives, and the Supreme Advisory Council, all state authority was vested on the President with the assistance of KNIP, which is duly recognized as the forerunner of the Indonesian House of Representatives or Parliament as a legislative body.
