Chapter 2 examines political and media rituals as standardized practices in response to various types of news event. Chapter 3 considers what the adoption of social media means for the mediasphere at large, discussing how media politics has changed through the introduction of blogs, twitter and other platforms. Chapter 4 consideration of flashpoints of activity and interest:breaking news,scandals and crises. Chapter 5 studies social media within collective action,including the integration of social media into movements with strong physical components. Chapter 6, exploring politicians,their parties,and how partisan politics plays out on social media. Chapter 7 brings the main ideas and themes featured in the previous chapters together within an election context.
