hair, so cdso is our enjoyment of the feast of freedom, in-
dependence and sovereignty being ruined by the threat
of SEATO hanging over our heads.

SEATO makes — or rather seeks to make — front-page
news for Asian newspapers. Conferences galore of SEATO
military experts, joint manoeuvres by the armed forces of
SEATO and, finally, the last session of the SEATO
ComuM in Karachi and the extraordinary decisions
reached at that conference show that the activities of
SEATO are being intensified.

The tumult and shouting at these manoeuvres, confer-
ences and oonfabutations make of SEATO the mast topi-
coil controversy in Asia today, provoking discussions,
debates and disputes on the kind of organization it is, its
aims and objectives, and the interests it seeks to serve
or secure.
