The cold war: a re-appraisal
The object of this book is to survey the history of the cold war up to the present; and to consider the ways in which it may evolve in the future. This is in many ways a favourable moment to re-examine the cold war. For that struggle has early arrived at a turning-point. Some indeed would claim it is already over. Others assert that it has been affected only in its inessentials, and that in its fundamental aspects it remains unmodified.
