The Standard Code of Parliamentary Procedure
In this fourth edition a number of subjects have been more fully explained, some minor changes have been made, and several inconsistencies have been rectified. The most significant change, however, has been the addition of a chapter on Robert's Rules of Order (Chapter 29), discussing the differences between Robert's Rules and the Standard Code and explaining how one who is familiar with the Standard Code can function easily in organizations that still use Robert's Rules as their parliamentary authority. The customs and rules of meetings-the practise that go by the ungainly term "parliamentary procedure"-are the bedrock of democracy, the mechanism by which a group of people can make fair and equitable decisions. It is our hope that this book will make that process more understandable, more straiht forward, and more "user-friendly".
