This book discusses the physiology and anatomy of Soviet totalitarianism. The book consists of 17 chapters divided in four parts about the seedbed of revolution, Bolshevism before 1917, the road to power, the dynamics of power, the dictatorship of the party in theory and practice, the growth of the party apparatus, party organization, activities, and problems, the composition and social structure of the party, the Komsomol or youth under dictatorship, the party command of Politburo and Presidium, constitutional myths and political realities, the control of bureaucracy or public administration in the Soviet Union, terror as a system of power, the party and the armed forces, controls and tensions in the Soviet factory and Soviet agriculture, and the political cohesiveness of the Soviet system. This book is suitable for research on Soviet politics and government.
