A century of parliamentary life in Indonesia : history of the house of representatives of the Republic of Indonesia
This book presents a comprehensive overview of a century of parliamentary life in Indonesia through the historical development of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI). Compiled as a summary of five main volumes initiated by the Secretariat General of the DPR RI during 2017–2018, the book aims to make the history of Indonesian parliamentary institutions more accessible to a wider audience. It traces the evolution of representative governance from the colonial period, through the struggle for independence, and into the post-independence era, highlighting the roles of key figures, organizations, and parliamentary movements. By emphasizing the continuity of the nation’s struggle for representation and democracy, this book serves as an introductory reference for readers—particularly younger generations—to understand Indonesia’s political journey, national identity, and the significance of parliamentary institutions in shaping the nation’s history.
