Gender Mainstreaming at the Parliament: A Study of the 2004-2009 House of Representatives (DPR) and House of Regional Representatives (DPD)
The main purpose of gender mainstreaming in parliament is to integrate a gender perspective in all laws and policies in order to develop the parliament into a truly representative, responsive, and accountable institutions. A gender responsive parliament an aim promoted in democracies worldwide. This publication specifically reviews progress regarding gender mainstreaming in the DPR RI throughout 2004-2009. It does so through analyzing the Indonesian parliamentary law and political party law, the house standing orders, political party statutes, and working procedures of both the DPR RI and DPD RI.
